Best foot forward

Ten Days in Brisbane. The first time I’ve headed north in Australia (beyond the Central Coast), and I enter the ‘Sunshine State’ to meet friends, family and lots of food.

The flight to Brisbane, while short in itself, had around 95% of people over the age of 40, and maybe 80% of people over 60. Sunshine State? More like ‘Retirement State.’ I jest, I jest. I was met at the airport by my uncle at whose place I stayed. I had my first lunch in Brisbane, which was Yum Cha. I have to say that it is a TOTALLY difference experience to Sydney. The place was deserted. Literally. There were like 4 tables of people. It was so quiet. It was uncanny and kinda scary. I’m so used to yum cha being a noisy place to eat in, that having it near silent feels like you’re eating in a graveyard.

My uncle has satellite TV, which is pretty awesome, been watching BBC and some chinese channels. Flooding in the UK sucks. Especially considering that we down here are in the middle of a drought and with all these water restrictions. Seeing all those people literally swimming in water. It makes you hurt deep down inside.

But, this is the start to my trip, hopefully lots of awesome experiences lie ahead!!!
